Securely Provide Documents When They're Needed

Your Tax Control Membership™ does not require you to routinely upload all of your tax and business records.

When documents are needed for a membership checkpoint or another Tax Control Group™ service, provide them through the designated secure client portal.

Some Changes Should Not Wait Until Tax Season

Your tax situation may change significantly during the year.

Pay particular attention to changes such as:

  • A major increase or decrease in business income
  • Starting or purchasing another business
  • Changing how your business is taxed
  • Adding employees or significantly changing payroll
  • Buying or selling major business assets
  • Purchasing or selling real estate
  • Receiving substantial income outside your business
  • Making significant retirement contributions
  • Major changes in owner compensation
  • Receiving an IRS or state tax notice

A change may indicate that additional information or a separate service is appropriate.

Records That May Be Relevant

Depending on your circumstances, we may request items such as:

TAX RECORDS

Recently filed individual or business tax returns and relevant tax notices.

BUSINESS FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Current profit-and-loss statements, income and expense information, payroll information or other business financial records.

TAX PAYMENT INFORMATION

Federal or state estimated-tax payments, withholding information or other relevant tax-payment records.

MAJOR CHANGES

Information related to significant equipment purchases, property transactions, changes in compensation, new income sources or other material financial events.

Only provide records that are relevant to the specific request.

You Do Not Need to Send Everything

Tax Control Membership™ is not an ongoing bookkeeping or document-storage service.

Do not routinely upload bank statements, receipts, accounting records, tax documents or other financial records unless they have been specifically requested or are relevant to a current Tax Control checkpoint.

Keeping the information focused helps us identify what actually matters.

Help Us Understand How Money Moves Between You and the Business

Depending on your business structure, we may need information about:

âś“ W-2 wages paid to you by the business
âś“ Owner draws or distributions
âś“ Guaranteed payments
âś“ Shareholder distributions
âś“ Owner contributions to the business
âś“ Current payroll information
âś“ Your existing business tax treatment

If an item does not apply to your business, you do not need to provide it.

Your Tax Control Checkpoints

Tax Control Membership™ is designed to help you maintain awareness throughout the year.

During membership checkpoints, you may be asked whether anything material has changed since your previous checkpoint.

When additional records are necessary, we'll identify what is needed rather than asking you to submit your entire financial history again.

When Additional Work Is Needed

Providing a document through the secure client portal does not automatically expand the scope of your membership.

If the information identifies a need for tax-return preparation, detailed tax projections, bookkeeping, tax-account investigation, notice response, representation or another service outside your membership, we'll identify the appropriate next step.

Any separate service will be defined and, when applicable, priced separately before that work begins.

Protect Your Tax and Financial Information

Do not send Social Security numbers, tax returns, bank records, financial statements or other sensitive information through ordinary email.

Use the designated secure client portal whenever sensitive documents are requested.

You're Ready to Begin Your Membership

Once your intake is complete, your Tax Control Membership™ onboarding is complete.

From there, your membership moves into its ongoing rhythm of:

Monthly Tax Control education and briefings

Quarterly Tax Control checkpoints

Tax and estimated-payment reminders

Member resources, tools and updates

Identification of issues that may require additional attention

You do not need to take another action now unless Tax Control Group™ specifically requests information from you.

Your Year-Round Tax Control Starts Here

Stay engaged with your taxes throughout the year and use your membership checkpoints and resources to recognize important tax issues earlier.
