2. GENERAL EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION
Unless expressly stated otherwise in a separate individualized professional engagement, content provided by The Tax Control Group is intended for general educational and informational purposes only.
General information is not a substitute for advice based on your specific:
- income;
- business structure;
- tax filings;
- tax jurisdiction;
- tax notices;
- financial records;
- deductions;
- credits;
- elections;
- accounting methods;
- entity classification;
- filing history;
- documentation;
- deadlines;
- goals; or
- other relevant circumstances.
Tax and financial decisions should be evaluated based on the facts applicable to the particular taxpayer or business.
3. NO AUTOMATIC TAX-ADVISOR OR PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Viewing this website, reading an article, downloading a resource, subscribing to a newsletter, watching a webinar, completing a general form, or using an educational tool does not by itself create a professional tax-advisor-client, accountant-client, representative-client, attorney-client, fiduciary, or similar relationship.
A professional relationship exists only to the extent expressly established by an applicable service agreement, engagement letter, authorization, or other written documentation defining the professional service.
4. NO LEGAL ADVICE
The Tax Control Group does not provide legal advice through general website content or educational materials.
Information concerning:
- business entities;
- tax disputes;
- IRS procedures;
- state tax procedures;
- contracts;
- legal rights;
- litigation;
- appeals;
- collections;
- inheritance;
- estate matters;
- corporate governance; or
- other legal matters
should not be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney when legal advice is appropriate.
5. NO INVESTMENT OR SECURITIES ADVICE
Unless expressly provided under a separate engagement by an appropriately authorized professional, The Tax Control Group does not provide investment advisory, securities, brokerage, portfolio-management, or investment-management services.
Nothing on this website should be interpreted as:
- a recommendation to purchase or sell a security;
- investment advice;
- a portfolio recommendation;
- a prediction of market performance; or
- a guarantee of investment results.
6. TAX LAW CHANGES
Federal, state, and local tax laws are subject to change.
Regulations, court decisions, administrative guidance, agency procedures, filing requirements, rates, thresholds, elections, deadlines, and interpretations may change after information is published or delivered.
Accordingly, educational materials that were accurate when prepared may later become outdated.
Unless an ongoing engagement expressly includes monitoring and updating, The Tax Control Group does not undertake to continuously revise every prior article, email, video, course, report, or educational resource after changes in law or circumstances.
7. TAX RESULTS DEPEND ON INDIVIDUAL FACTS
Tax outcomes are highly dependent on individual facts and circumstances.
The Tax Control Group does not guarantee that a particular person or business:
- qualifies for a deduction;
- qualifies for a credit;
- qualifies for a tax election;
- qualifies for a specific entity treatment;
- should amend a return;
- should change entity classification;
- should use a particular accounting method;
- should adopt a particular tax strategy;
- will receive a refund;
- will owe less tax;
- will eliminate tax debt;
- will reduce penalties;
- will reduce interest; or
- will achieve a particular result.
Any strategy or recommendation must be evaluated against applicable law and the taxpayer's actual facts and documentation.
8. NO GUARANTEE OF TAX SAVINGS
The Tax Control Group does not guarantee any specific amount of tax savings.
References to possible savings, potential inefficiencies, missed opportunities, tax-control gaps, or other estimated financial effects are not guarantees.
Actual results depend on matters including:
- taxable income;
- deductions;
- credits;
- entity type;
- documentation;
- filing history;
- eligibility;
- tax law;
- elections;
- timing;
- recordkeeping;
- prior filings;
- tax jurisdiction; and
- implementation.
9. HIDDEN LOSS ESTIMATES AND SIMILAR CALCULATIONS
The Tax Control Group may use diagnostic tools, estimates, or frameworks designed to illustrate potential areas of tax inefficiency or financial exposure.
A Hidden Loss estimate, diagnostic estimate, or similar calculation is not a determination that a specific amount:
- was illegally or improperly paid;
- was actually overpaid;
- can be recovered;
- can be refunded;
- qualifies as a missed deduction;
- can be eliminated in a future year; or
- constitutes legally recoverable damages.
Such estimates are intended to help identify areas that may warrant further evaluation.
A complete determination requires analysis of the taxpayer's facts, records, documentation, returns, applicable law, and other relevant information.
10. EXAMPLES AND HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIOS
The Tax Control Group may use hypothetical examples to explain tax concepts.
Examples involving:
- income;
- deductions;
- taxes owed;
- self-employment tax;
- entity choices;
- estimated taxes;
- tax savings;
- business expenses;
- tax balances; or
- planning strategies
are illustrative only unless expressly stated to be based on a specific individualized engagement.
Hypothetical results should not be assumed to apply to you.
11. TAX CONTROL BREAKDOWN™ AND EDUCATIONAL DIAGNOSTICS
The Tax Control Breakdown™, scorecards, quizzes, assessments, questionnaires, calculators, and educational diagnostics are designed to increase awareness and help identify potential areas requiring attention.
They are not substitutes for:
- tax-return review;
- complete document review;
- bookkeeping analysis;
- transcript analysis;
- formal tax planning;
- professional representation; or
- individualized tax advice.
A score such as “At Risk,” “Partially Controlled,” or another descriptive classification is an educational or routing indicator and does not itself constitute a formal tax determination.
12. TAX CONTROL PRIORITY REVIEW™
The Tax Control Priority Review™ is a limited-scope service intended to help interpret tax-related correspondence within the agreed scope.
A Priority Review may identify:
- what a notice appears to concern;
- relevant tax periods;
- amounts appearing on the notice;
- dates shown;
- actions requested;
- questions requiring clarification; and
- possible next steps.
Unless expressly included under a separate written agreement, a Priority Review does not constitute:
- representation before the IRS;
- representation before a state taxing authority;
- preparation of an appeal;
- filing of a petition;
- preparation or submission of a response;
- audit representation;
- collections representation;
- amended-return preparation;
- comprehensive tax-account reconciliation;
- legal representation; or
- a guarantee of any result.
13. TAX NOTICE CONSULTATION™
A Tax Notice Consultation™ is limited to the scope communicated at booking or in the applicable service agreement.
A consultation does not automatically include:
- extensive research;
- preparation of correspondence;
- amended returns;
- bookkeeping;
- tax-return preparation;
- representation;
- negotiation with taxing authorities; or
- implementation of recommendations.
If additional services are appropriate, they may require a separate scope and fee.
14. RESOLUTION AND REPRESENTATION MATTERS
Tax resolution and representation matters can involve significant legal and procedural consequences.
Submitting a request to review resolution options does not mean:
- The Tax Control Group has accepted representation;
- an IRS power of attorney has been created;
- a state authorization has been established;
- a filing has been made;
- a deadline has been extended;
- collection activity has been suspended; or
- any taxing authority has agreed to a particular result.
Representation begins only when the required engagement terms and authorizations have been completed.
15. NO GUARANTEE REGARDING IRS OR STATE ACTION
The Tax Control Group cannot control decisions made by:
- the Internal Revenue Service;
- state departments of taxation;
- courts;
- tax tribunals;
- auditors;
- appeals officers;
- collection personnel; or
- other government authorities.
Accordingly, no guarantee is made that a government agency will:
- accept a position;
- approve a request;
- remove a penalty;
- reduce interest;
- accept an amended return;
- approve a payment arrangement;
- grant relief;
- withdraw an assessment;
- abate a balance;
- close an examination; or
- reach any particular conclusion.
16. DEADLINES REMAIN IMPORTANT
Tax notices may contain deadlines.
Submitting a form, scheduling an appointment, uploading a document, purchasing a service, or communicating with The Tax Control Group does not by itself:
- extend a government deadline;
- constitute a response;
- constitute an appeal;
- stop collection activity;
- stop penalties;
- stop interest;
- prevent enforcement action; or
- preserve a legal right.
Unless The Tax Control Group has expressly agreed in writing to assume responsibility for a specific deadline, you remain responsible for monitoring and complying with applicable deadlines.
17. CLIENT INFORMATION AND DOCUMENTATION
Tax analysis depends heavily on the accuracy and completeness of information provided.
The Tax Control Group may rely on client-provided information within the scope of the applicable engagement.
Incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or omitted information may affect:
- calculations;
- recommendations;
- eligibility;
- reporting;
- planning;
- tax positions; and
- outcomes.
Clients are responsible for providing accurate and complete information and notifying The Tax Control Group when material facts change.
18. RECORDKEEPING AND DEDUCTIONS
Educational discussions concerning deductions do not mean that every listed expense is deductible for every taxpayer.
Deductibility may depend on:
- business purpose;
- substantiation;
- allocation;
- timing;
- ordinary and necessary business use;
- applicable limitations;
- recordkeeping; and
- other tax-law requirements.
The mere fact that a business owner paid an expense does not automatically make it deductible.
19. ENTITY SELECTION AND S CORPORATION DISCUSSIONS
Educational discussions concerning LLCs, S corporations, corporations, partnerships, sole proprietorships, or other structures are not automatic recommendations to select or change an entity.
Entity decisions may involve:
- federal taxation;
- state taxation;
- payroll;
- reasonable compensation;
- legal liability;
- administrative costs;
- filing requirements;
- ownership restrictions;
- business goals; and
- other considerations.
Changes in entity structure should be evaluated based on the specific facts and, where appropriate, with qualified legal and tax professionals.
20. BOOKKEEPING AND ACCOUNTING INFORMATION
Educational information concerning bookkeeping, expense tracking, categorization, reconciliations, or financial records is not a substitute for a complete accounting engagement.
A bookkeeping system may need to be tailored to:
- the client's industry;
- accounting method;
- entity type;
- tax requirements;
- reporting obligations; and
- financial circumstances.
21. BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL EDUCATION
The Tax Control Group may discuss business organization, cash flow, profitability, recordkeeping, planning, and related business concepts.
Such information is educational and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of:
- increased profits;
- improved business performance;
- increased revenue;
- reduced expenses;
- future financial stability; or
- business success.
Business performance depends on numerous factors outside The Tax Control Group's control.
22. SUBSCRIPTIONS, NEWSLETTERS, AND MEMBERSHIPS
Educational offerings such as Tax Control Intelligence™ or Tax Control Membership™ may include:
- general tax education;
- research summaries;
- planning reminders;
- workshops;
- classes;
- calendars;
- templates;
- checklists;
- resources; or
- member Q&A.
Unless expressly included in a separate individualized service agreement, participation in these programs does not create individualized tax representation or require The Tax Control Group to analyze each member's personal tax situation.
Any member Q&A must remain within the scope stated for the applicable offering.
23. DIGITAL TOOLS AND CALCULATORS
Calculators, worksheets, scorecards, estimators, and other digital tools may rely on assumptions or simplified inputs.
They may not account for every factor relevant to a taxpayer's circumstances.
Results from a calculator or automated tool should therefore be treated as estimates or educational indicators unless expressly verified through an individualized professional engagement.
24. THIRD-PARTY INFORMATION
The Tax Control Group may reference information from government agencies, software providers, professional sources, or other third parties.
Although reasonable care may be used in selecting sources, third-party information may:
- change;
- contain errors;
- become outdated; or
- be subject to interpretation.
Users should consult official sources and qualified professionals when making significant decisions.
25. TESTIMONIALS AND CLIENT EXPERIENCES
Testimonials, reviews, case studies, and client stories reflect individual experiences.
They are not promises that another client will achieve the same or similar result.
Differences in:
- income;
- business structure;
- deductions;
- documentation;
- filing history;
- tax jurisdiction;
- timing;
- legal requirements; and
- implementation
can materially affect results.
26. FORWARD-LOOKING STATEMENTS
Certain educational or marketing materials may discuss anticipated outcomes, planning opportunities, future tax exposure, possible savings, or other forward-looking considerations.
Forward-looking statements involve uncertainty and should not be treated as guarantees.
Actual outcomes may differ materially because of changes in law, facts, financial performance, government action, or other circumstances.
27. NO PROMISE OF FINANCIAL IMPROVEMENT
The Tax Control Group does not guarantee that use of its products or services will:
- increase wealth;
- improve credit;
- increase cash flow;
- increase profits;
- increase business revenue;
- eliminate financial stress;
- eliminate tax obligations; or
- produce any specific financial improvement.
Our services are intended to provide education, analysis, organization, planning, or other agreed professional assistance—not guaranteed financial outcomes.
28. PROFESSIONAL CREDENTIALS AND AUTHORIZATION
The availability of certain tax services may depend on the professional credentials, licenses, authorizations, or legal rights applicable to the person providing the service.
Nothing on the website should be interpreted as a representation that a specific credential exists unless that credential is expressly and accurately stated.
Representation before the IRS or another taxing authority will be provided only when legally permitted and expressly established under the applicable engagement.
29. OTHER PROFESSIONALS MAY BE REQUIRED
Certain matters may require or benefit from assistance from other professionals, including:
- attorneys;
- CPAs;
- enrolled agents;
- bookkeepers;
- financial advisers;
- payroll providers;
- valuation professionals;
- insurance professionals; or
- other specialists.
The Tax Control Group may recommend that a client obtain additional professional advice when appropriate.
A recommendation to consult another professional is not a guarantee concerning that professional's services or results.
30. NO RELIANCE ON OLD INFORMATION
Users should consider the publication or delivery date of any tax-related content.
An older article, video, webinar, template, course, or email may not reflect the current state of tax law.
If current accuracy is important, verify the information before relying on it.
31. LIMITATION ON USE OF INFORMATION
You are responsible for how you use general educational information.
Do not use general content from The Tax Control Group to:
- prepare or amend a tax return without evaluating the applicable facts;
- respond to an IRS or state notice without reviewing the actual communication;
- make an entity election solely based on an educational example;
- claim a deduction without determining eligibility and substantiation;
- ignore a governmental deadline; or
- make a substantial financial or legal decision without considering your individual circumstances.
32. NO WARRANTY OF COMPLETENESS
Tax law is extensive and fact-specific.
No article, newsletter, course, presentation, checklist, calculator, consultation, or limited-scope service can necessarily address every issue that may be relevant to a particular taxpayer.
The absence of discussion of a tax issue should not be interpreted as a statement that the issue does not apply.
33. PRIVACY AND SENSITIVE INFORMATION
Do not send highly sensitive taxpayer information through general website forms, social media, or ordinary email unless specifically instructed.
When a secure document-upload or client portal is provided, use that method for sensitive records.
Please review our Privacy Policy for additional information concerning personal data.
34. TERMS OF SERVICE AND SERVICE AGREEMENTS
This Disclaimer supplements, and does not replace, The Tax Control Group's:
- Terms of Service;
- Privacy Policy;
- Refund and Cancellation Policy;
- applicable checkout terms;
- service agreements;
- engagement letters;
- authorizations; and
- other applicable written agreements.
Where a separately executed agreement contains specific provisions governing an individualized service, that agreement controls the scope of that service.
35. GOVERNING LAW
This Disclaimer will be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where applicable federal law or another law that cannot lawfully be waived or displaced applies.
36. CHANGES TO THIS DISCLAIMER
The Tax Control Group may revise this Disclaimer periodically to reflect changes in:
- services;
- tax law;
- business practices;
- technology; or
- applicable requirements.
The effective date at the top will be updated when revisions are made.

By accessing or using The Tax Control Group's website, educational materials, products, or services, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to review this Tax & Financial Disclaimer.
You understand that general tax and financial information is not a substitute for individualized analysis based on your particular circumstances and that no specific tax or financial outcome is guaranteed.
Tax & Financial Disclaimer: Information provided by The Tax Control Group is educational unless expressly included in a separately defined professional engagement. Tax outcomes depend on individual facts, applicable law, documentation, and eligibility. No particular tax savings, refund, debt reduction, penalty relief, or other outcome is guaranteed.
